The investigation got underway when a deputy stumbled upon social media videos showing roosters housed in conditions that raised alarm bells. More importantly, deputies noticed key clues in the videos’ backgrounds: fences, layout features, and structures that helped them identify several properties linked to the activity. Authorities have recovered nearly 500 birds. According to officials, many had been physically altered in ways common to cockfighting, including comb trimming to reduce bleeding during fights.
