Man Overwhelmed by $1 Million Lottery Win

(AsiaGameHub) –   Bedford County resident Kenneth “JR” Bilger experienced profound shock upon discovering he had won the final Triple Red 777 scratch-off ticket he had purchased.

The ticket yielded a $1,000,000 prize, an amount the man was still struggling to process as he posed for the customary oversized check photo opportunity.

The Jackpot Was Too Much to Take In at First 

“It was a trip. This is a lot more money than I am accustomed to,” Bilger expressed his disbelief. He and his wife, Becky, were at Martin General Stores, located at 533 Main St. in Saxton, on Thursday to claim the prize with lottery officials. The store also received a $5,000 bonus.

While Bilger had never won such a substantial sum, he did mention a previous win of $1,500. The winning ticket was bought on May 9, along with several others, and in a fortunate turn of events, it was the last ticket he scratched.

Bilger noted that winning such a large amount was not easy and that it took him some time to fully grasp what had happened.

“I had to check the ticket three or four times. I was shaking and flushed. A guy walking out thought he was going to have to call an ambulance for me,” he recalled.

Naturally, Bilger wanted to share the news and called his wife first, but she did not believe him. Bilger’s oldest daughter, who was with her mother at the time, also suspected her father was joking.

Eventually, Bilger returned home and showed his family the tickets, at which point the win began to feel “real,” he stated, turning the $30 scratcher into a significant windfall.

The lottery did not disclose the specifics of Bilger’s claim, including whether he chose an annuity payment plan or opted for the lump sum (reduced) payout.
