The plant will have the capacity to capture 5,200 tons of CO2 per day from the flue gases emitted during combustion of the boilers in the power station. For this FEED project, MHI will investigate the main equipment and specifications through MHI's proprietary CO2 capture technology, in preparation for the introduction of equipment in the future. When completed, the facility is expected to be the largest CO2 capture plant in Japan.HEPCO, in cooperation with Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. and Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd., concluded a contract with Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC), a Japanese government Incorporated Administrative Agency, for the design work of a CCS(1) project in the Tomakomai area of Hokkaido, based on an open call for business consignment regarding "Engineering Design for Japanese Advanced CCS Projects."(2) According to the agreement, the conception for the project is for CO2 captured at HEPCO's Tomato-Atsuma Power Station to be stored in deep saline formations in the Tomakomai area, with the aim of storing approximately 1.5 million to 2 million tons of CO2 per year by 2030. It is launched for Japan market at present.To allow for hydrogen co-firing, the two companies modified the fuel gas and engine control systems of the GS6R2 city gas mono-firing engine to develop a hydrogen co-firing engine. More than 500 hours of demonstration testing was conducted at the Toho Gas Technology Research Institute (Tokai, Aichi Prefecture), confirming the reliability of hydrogen mixing and the reduction in CO2 emissions.In the demonstration testing, various simulated operating patterns were applied to verify capabilities required for power generation equipment to respond to fluctuations in power demand and maintain stable operation. The tests confirmed that there is no risk of abnormal combustion, and that the system can be operated in the same manner as the city gas mono-firing model.The hydrogen blend ratio has been set at a maximum of 15 vol% to minimize the scope of change from conventional natural gas engines. The system has two operating modes, city gas 13A mono-firing mode and hydrogen co-firing mode, and can be switched between modes at any point during loaded operation. In hydrogen co-firing mode, only city gas is used for starting the engine, which means the same amount of initial load as city gas mono-firing mode can be accepted even in the event of a power outage, making the system highly reliable for business continuity plans (BCP).In addition, for customers who are considering the use of hydrogen in the future, MHIET is also offering the "Hydrogen Ready" package. Fujitsu to develop ETF trading platform based on TSE’s CONNEQTOR and provide it to Australian Securities Exchange

The engine delivers 103 kilowatts (kW) for both manual gearbox and 7DCT. The HEV model, meanwhile, provides a total combined output of 115 kW, combining six components to maximize efficiency and performance: a naturally-aspirated, four-cylinder 1.8-liter gasoline engine producing 80 kW of power, with two electric motors, a 36 kW drive motor and a 15 kW generator, a power electronics box with two built-in inverters and converters, a 1.4 kilowatt-hours (kWh) lithium-ion traction battery, and a smart multi-mode gearbox transmission that optimizes driving according to road conditions. This HEV system analyzes driving conditions in real time and automatically controls the optimal power distribution between the engine and electric motor based on powertrain status and power usage. Three driving modes are available: EV mode, which runs on electric motor power alone; hybrid mode, which utilizes the output of the electric motor and engine together; and regenerative mode, which uses regenerative braking to recover deceleration energy during deceleration, convert it into electric power, and store it in the drive battery.
